In case git-scm is ever down or its man pages broken, there is the mirror and the jk.gs mirror. ![]() ![]() (the official website of Git and where the above book is hosted) also has the reference section containing all Git man pages (if you're not from the *nix world, that's "manual pages" and often coincides what git -help will tell you). For the start, read chapters 1, 2, 3 and 5 (you won't need the stuff in chapter 4 unless you are the Git server admin, so you can postpone it until its interests you and you have time). Some sarcasm was used aboveįirst of all, take a look at the Pro-Git book (free online at that link), which is generally considered the standard introductory work for Git.
